Charlotte + Pete // Wild swimming in Wales
Charlotte and I met online earlier in August and we started planning a wild swimming themed couples shoot with her fiancé Pete. Charlotte is the founder of Bristol Girl Hikers group so she knows quite a few great spots in the area but early on she sent photos of the waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons and I couldn’t stop thinking about them. With Charlotte’s guidance we came up with a game plan to photograph them somewhere along the four waterfalls walk in Wales.
Our shoot day was early on a Sunday morning in an attempt to beat some of the crowds, and we were quite lucky that we had decent weather. The UK has been experiencing some serious wind and rain storms the last week and a bit so I was very nervous it would be too cold or miserable to be able to swim but it worked out! The four waterfalls walk was super muddy with a lot of branches and rocks making it a bit more difficult of a walk but the elevation was completely manageable. I was blown away by how beautiful it was, this was also my first time ever visiting Wales so that was quite special. We walked for about 45 minutes down into the valley until we found a waterfall that we could easily access and which had a calm enough section to swim in. A few people came through while we were shooting but thankfully the crowds didn’t show up until just after we wrapped up shooting! If you’re ever travelling in South Wales I highly recommend visiting some of the waterfalls in the area, you won’t be disappointed.
